Overview
This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community care and/or residential facilities
who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who
require support due to ageing, disability or other reasons.
This qualification provides
enrolled students with an entry level qualification into the Home and Community and
Age Care Sector. This nationally recognized qualification is recognized in all States and
Territories in Australia. This course is designed for individuals wanting to work in clients'
home environment, community groups and other residential settings.
To complete this qualification, students must complete at least 120 hours of work experience
in a residential aged care facility to allow all competencies to be assessed on-the-job.
There is a need for a Federal Police Criminal Record check in all aged care and disability
organisations and for all roles.

Requirements
- There is no requirement or pre-requisite required to commence this course. However,
students must be competent in basic literacy and numeracy (reading & writing in English).
- Completion of year 10 or equivalent
- National police clearance for vocational placement
- Working with children clearance
- Students should be at least 18 years of age.
